English Course

(Coming Soon)

Our aim is to offer tuition of the highest standard and to help students improve their capacity to communicate in English. Our courses are intensive and we expect our students to take their studies seriously, but we also encourage a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in our classrooms.

All lessons are conducted in English and the teachers make use of a variety of modern teaching techniques. Students are given maximum opportunity to take an active part in the lessons and are expected to do so. There is plenty of listening and speaking practice.

Teachers
All the teachers are native English speakers with experience and qualifications in teaching English as a foreign language. They are also friendly and enthusiastic and want every student to make maximum progress. All students receive plenty of individual attention in class and have weekly tutorials to discuss their course and the progress they are making with their teacher. They can also discuss this with the Director of Studies at any time. In this way we can guarantee a personal service.

Class Sizes
In the interest of value added teaching, the college operates a variable maximum number of students per class policy based on the students learning requirements and to fit the budget of the student. Typically the maximum number in a class will be 20 for courses conducted in the Morning and 30 for courses conducted wholly in the afternoon. The average is about 18 students per class.

Levels
On your first day we will give you a written test and speak to you individually to decide which level of class is best for you. The level we choose usually depends most on how well you understand spoken English and on the effectiveness of your spoken language. If you understand a lot of grammar but have difficulty in using it when you speak, we will probably suggest that you join a class where other students have the same level of speaking as you. The class will not be too easy for you because you will learn to use the grammar actively.

We do not have classes for absolute beginners. If you have never studied English, we advise you to take a course in your own country before coming to England. We have classes for near-beginners - students who have studied English for a very short time (perhaps less than a year in their own country) or who studied it a long time ago and cannot remember much. They can use very little vocabulary or grammar and find it very difficult to understand basic questions spoken slowly or to talk about very simple topics. If you are not sure about this, please contact us.

General English Language Courses
Courses are continuous and progressive throughout the year. Many students follow a long term course of study but we will also accept students for periods of 1, 2 or 3 weeks. At the end of your stay you can take a standardised test to establish what your English level is. Once you have completed a period of study, you will be given an attendance certificate and a report on your standard of English.
